Grand Prix Attack
The opening 1.e4 c5 2.f4 has several names. It is known as the Grand Prix Attack, the Larsen-Santasiere Variation, the McConnell Attack, and Philidor's Variation of the Sicilian. Whatever it is called, it can be a strong opening. It's like a King's Gambit against the Sicilian Defense.
This game features a queen sacrifice followed by a pure mate using two knights. It is a clever game and a brilliant miniature. I included the game in my 500 Sicilian Minatures (game 27) book written in 1983.
