Max Euwe (1901-1981) was a Dutch Grandmaster, Mathematician and author. He was the fifth player to become World Chess Champion 1n 1935. Euwe was also President of the World Chess Federation (FIDE) from 1970-1978. He defeated Sir George Thomas in the following game from the memorable Hastings tournament of 1934. Both players set up excellent attacks against the other's King. Just when Black thought his troubles were under control, it comes White's 26.Bd5, the move was so devastating that no mortal could withstand such a blow, everything was attacked. Black resigned.
