White develops a piece himself whilst defending his pawn at the same time.  As troops are mustered into battle each side must carefully balance their saftely while still focusing (primarily) into getting at the other side first.  Neither side has commited to castle on either side (or at all) and so development is less focused on a simple attack, this game has many 'layers'.
