To reach the current evolution of chess knowledge, chess like science, art and sport, has absorbed the best of the most outstanding and gifted players, as well as many other not so famous but who contributed with many ideas that after have been used by later generations.

In this article, I want to dust off the ark of chess, and show some beautiful combinatorial ideas created by players who never reached the rank and magnitude of othersmagnificent gladiators and therefore did not have the same place on the stage of chess history.

How many excellent games and combinations have been played by non-professional players, and are today unknown because they were figured out in random games?

To understand Lasker, Capablanca and Alekhine we must also comprehend the achievements and contributions of their predecessors!

Let us enjoy the next positions and see how those less-known players contributed to the development of the ideas in chess.
