Playing on Opposite Wings

Here is a game from the 10th EICC, WIM Drljevic - IM Maksimovic with full annotations and commentary:

This game was a very sound strategical effort by black. The first part of the plan was to force open lines on the kingside with h7-h5-h4 advance. Then when white was lured into playing on the kingside black attacked on the opposite wing (the queenside) for which white was not prepared to handle. This led to the black pieces flooding into the position on the queenside while white was helplessly left without solid defense.

This strategy of attacking on opposite wings is a good one. This can lead to the opponent becoming out-stretched on one side of the board which in turn can lead to a decisive breakthrough as we have seen from this example game.
