Staunton Day 1: Staunton Gambit at Staunton Memorial!

We begin our coverage with a sparkling game from the first round of the 2009 Howard Staunton Memorial chess tournament. the grand tradition of this event was enhanced by the appearance of a Staunton gambit on the chessboard at Simpson's in the Strand.

I will try to post an interesting game from each round though as I am still teaching this week I might be a bit busy.also, later this week I will be playing in the final round of the DailyKos chess tournament, where I am tied for first place. That game will be played on live chesshere in the Live Chess room.
