Why Early Aggression for Black in Queen's Pawn Games is almost always Bad

This principle applies no more so than in the tricky d-pawn 'specials' (Torre Attack, London System, Stonewall and the Colle Systems). Here I'm going to show 2 games which I hope may be useful in illustrating this: one of my own games and then a classic Alekhine grind against an up-and-coming Max Euwe. Both games are in the Torre and London Systems and my annotations won't contain any deep analysis, just the main ideas simply explained:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So, in summary be sure to try and slowly equalise 1st before lashing out next time you're playing the Black side of 1. d4.
