Doctor Who is the last of an ancient alien species called timelords. For an unknown reason his real name cannot be unveiled hence the moniker.

Galifrey was the home world of the timelords.

He is the sole survivor of the last time war fought between the Daleks and the Timelords, being responsible for the destruction of both.

Armed only with a sonic screwdriver (a multipurpose device) and his TARDIS (time machine) he travels the known universe serving as the paladin of time and space.

Besides the fact of having two hearts, timelords differ from human beings in the fact of possesing the ability to regenerate when gravely wounded although this comes at the cost of transforming his phisical body.

So far there have been 11 regenerations.

Of all the species in the universe the doctor has developed a particular fondness for the human species so much in fact that he often travels with human companions and has protected the earth countless times from alien assault.
