SOME APHORISMS, SAYINGS, POEMS & VARIOUS INFORMATION:

"GENS UNA SUMUS" (FIDE) ("We are all one family") (but according to Google, it means "we are all one nation")

"The sun does not shine for a few trees and flowers, but for the wide world's joy...."

Thousands of geniuses live and die undiscovered - either by themselves or by others... Mark Twain

"Discovery consists of seeing what everybody has seen and thinking what nobody has thought..."
"I still find each day too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read, and all the friends I want to see..." -John Burroughs.
Gonna take a sentimental journey... Gonna set my heart at ease... Gonna make a sentimental journey... To renew old memories...♫
"Man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated...." -Ernest Hemingway.
"There is no friendship, no love, like that of the parent for the child...."

"Leaves three, leave it be.." (said for poisonous plants)

"Red touches yellow, it can harm a fellow. Red touches black, it's okay for Jack." (noted for the colours of poisonous and non-poisonous desert snakes)

This is a game of Chess. We mustn't make the wrong move. (film)

If you don't prepare it... Then prepare to fail.

The will to win is worthless if you do not have the will to prepare.

I can accept failure; everyone fails at something. But I can't accept not trying.

SORROW, MY LOVE

by Carl Johnson

My Sorrow walks beside me.
She shares these dark days.
She does her best to hide me.
From the sun's happy, hurtful rays.

I cannot bear the joy.
Or the brightness of the day.

Smiles and laughter just annoy,

Now my love has slipped away.

At my love's deathbed, Sorrow met me.
She promised she would stay,
And never would forget me,
Now my love has gone away.

Sorrow lies with me in sleep.
She wraps me in her arms.
Pulling me down and deep,
Into the dark waters of her charms.

She dances me into nightmares.
Where those like me despair,
Trading memory's gloomy wares
Amid darkly dazzling prayer.

Faithful mistress, she will remain.
I will never be alone.
She fills my heart with white-hot pain.
Where once love's gold light shone.

She is my beautiful Sorrow,
Shading me from all light.
Until God's pity, I borrow,
And join my love in endless nights.

Creating your own training program : (For people who don't have too much time to study hours and hours of Chess every single day due to their routine duties and social responsibilities)

  • "Little and often" is an effective way to study.
  • 15 to 20 minutes a day, every single day.
  • Study at maximum concentration.
  • Variety is the key.  (Endgames, middlegames, opening theory, tactics etc.)
  • Keep fit and healthy.  You can't play Chess when you're tired.
  • Play as much as you study.
  • Don't be obsessive about Chess. Instead, play to enjoy the game.
  • If you're not enjoying Chess, take a break.
  • By the way: "Everyone has his/her own way for improving his/her chess understanding."

Chess quotes :

A good player is always lucky.

You may learn much more from a game you lose than from a game you win. You will have to lose hundreds of games before becoming a good player.

When you sit down to play a game, you should think only about the position, but not about the opponent.

People who want to improve should take their defeats as lessons and endeavour to learn what to avoid in the future. You must also have the courage of your convictions.

If you think your move is good, make it.

Chess is the art of analysis.

Yes, I have played a blitz game once. It was on a train in 1929. ..Botvinnik.

You have to accustom yourself to practical study at home, and you have to devote time to studies, the history of Chess, the development of Chess, and chess culture.

If you are going to make your mark among masters, you have to work far harder and more intensively, or, to put it more precisely, the work is far more complicated than that needed to gain the title of Master.

Above all else, before playing in competitions, a player must regard his health, for if he is suffering from ill-health, he cannot hope for success. In this connection, the best of all tonics is 15 to 20 days in the fresh air in the country.

Chess is an art that expresses the science of logic.

Chess mastery essentially consists of analysing chess positions accurately.

Psychology is the most essential factor in Chess.

The ability to work hard for days on end without losing focus is a talent. Likewise, the ability to keep absorbing new information after many hours of study is a talent.

If you wish to succeed, you must brave the risk of failure.

By playing rapid Chess, one can lose the habit of concentrating for several hours in serious Chess. That is why, if a player has big aims, he should limit his rapid play in favour of serious Chess.

Overall, the life of a chess professional is not as easy as it appears at first sight. One needs to devote some ten hours a day to Chess and to everything connected with it - physical and psychological preparation.

Chess is like bodybuilding. If you train every day, you stay in top shape. It is the same with your brain – Chess is a matter of daily training.

It would be best if you didn't let your opponent impose his style of play on you. A part of that begins mentally. At the chessboard, if you start blinking every time he challenges you, you are withdrawing in a certain sense. That is very important to avoid.

Confidence is essential – even pretending to be confident. If you make a mistake but do not let your opponent see what you are thinking, then he may overlook the mistake.

All that matters on the chessboard is good moves.

A strong memory, concentration, imagination, and a strong will is required to become a great chess player.

Your body has to be in top condition. Your Chess deteriorates as your body does. You can't separate the body from the mind.

Chess demands total concentration.
