Hi there!

My name is Nicolas Cogan, I am 27 and I am the Ivory Coast (back to back) chess champion

I earned the NM title in January 2024 and I recently ranked 4th (equally-ranked) at the African Chess Championship 2024. I won my last game with a 99% precision (link)

About me: 

• I have been teaching chess for 5 years and I am currently training the Ivory Coast junior chess champion
• I have been passionnate about chess since I was a child and I share my passion with dynamism while striving to be the most efficient and personalized for my students
• I have been team captain in Youth 1st division in France and I brought news students to national championships so I learned how to COACH, not just how to teach

Coaching method & info: 

• I am trained by a strong GM who gives me quality material that I remaster for my students
• I have a comprehensive and state of the art approach: I take into account all chess dimensions (openings, strategy, tactical play, endgames, time & stress management and psychology). I combine the classical way of teaching (checkmate patterns, tactical tools, endgames basics and principles, positional play, ...) with the new tools (game analysis for instance) offered by chess.com, lichess and chessbase that I master very well
• I help my students develop logical and strategic thinking

Practical information: 

• First class (free) is a full review of your strengths and weaknesses in order to set up a suitable program 
• I teach in French and English at an hourly rate of $40
