Yesterday was the 80th birthday of Barry Corbin, who has amassed an outstanding total of 222 screen credits and is still working at a great pace. Born in Lamesa, Texas, after graduating from the Texas Tech University in Lubbock he joined the US Marine Corps and after his spell remained on the Reserve until 1963. Nominated three times for Emmys, including twice for Northern Exposure 1990-95, his favourite role which he really fought for was to be in Lonesome Dove 1989. Inducted into the Texas Hall of Fame in 2012, he owns with his wife a ranch in Fort Worth, Texas but voices video games (Red Alert) and is the voice of a Dallas radio station, playing poker in Arlington once every week. It is difficult to believe given the level of his activity but more than anything he likes to be riding his horses at home. We believe a match should be held in his honour and hope you will accept.
