Recently was the 50th birthday of Damian Lewis. Born in St John’s Wood, London, as with many others he really made his name with Band of Brothers in 2001 in the lead role of Winters, which led to massive recognition for the part of Brody in Homeland 2011-14, for which he was awarded a Golden Globe and a Primetime Emmy. Played Henry VIII in the popular Wolf Hall 2015, but recently has been seen in the popular Billions 2016-21 as hedge fund king Bobby Axelrod, the sixth series of which showed recently. He also played Steve McQueen in Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood 2019. He grew up in the Abbey Road area of London (Borough Westminster) but went to Ashdown House School in Forest Row, East Sussex and then Eton College; thereafter the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in the City of London, where Daniel Craig was a classmate. He then gained recognition in The Royal Shakespeare Company, whence Spielberg found him. Married to Helen McCrory with two children, as a family they moved to Los Angeles in 2007 for the filming of Life but they returned to the UK on its completion in 2009 and reside in a Victorian townhouse in Tufnell Park, North London (in the boroughs of Islington and Camden), but they also have a home near Sudbury in Suffolk.
