Today is the 55th birthday of Charles Esten. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and raised there and later in Alexandria, Virginia where he graduated from high school, he has become an actor and performer recognised world-wide largely through playing Deacon Claybourne in Nashville 2012-18, though he had achieved recognition through improvised comedy and performances in the US version of The Office 2006, and a stint in ER 2007-08. More recently he has been involved in series Tell Me Your Secrets and Outer Banks. His musical talent is also much admired and he moved his family to Nashville whilst in the TV series, but now performs regularly at the Grand Ole Opry.
