On the start date it will be the 125th anniversary of the birth of Paul Muni, who died aged 71 in 1967. He was described as the heir to Lon Chaney's talent as the man of a thousand faces, by the way he immersed himself into every role, including accent and make-up. Probably best remembered for Scarface 1932, he won an Oscar for The Story of Louis Pasteur in 1936 and had five other nominations. He was born in Lemberg, formerly Austria/Hungary and now Lviv in Ukraine. His family emigrated when he was young to the US and settled in Chicago, where Muni learned his craft in repertory before moving to Los Angeles and starting film work.
