On the start date it will be the 95th birthday of Dame Angela Lansbury, honoured by the UK but also in the USA with an American National Medal of the Arts. Born and raised in Regent's Park, London she evacuated with her family to the US in WW2, having trained for her career at the Webber Douglas Academy. In a career of over 110 screen credits, not forgetting 5 Tonys for stage performances, she has received Oscar Nominations for Gaslight 1944, The Picture of Dorian Gray 1945 and The Manchurian Candidate 1962, winning Golden Globes for the last two. Remembered by families for her involvement with Disney in Bedknobs and Broomsticks 1971 and as the voice of Mrs Potts in Beauty and the Beast 1991, she was invited as a special guest to the opening of Disneyland in Paris. Still probably best remembered for portraying Miss Marple, but particularly as Jessica Fletcher in Murder, She Wrote 1084-96 and further TV movies to 2003, which was filmed in Mendecino, California representing Cabot Cove, for which she won four Golden Globes and had 9 other nominations. She has been awarded for lifetime achievement a special BAFTA in 1991, and special Oscar in 2014. Initially in America, her family lived in Utah in Salt Lake City, but with her fame she has lived in Malibu, Santa Monica and currently resides in North Hollywood.
