Yesterday was the 75th birthday of John Lithgow, who has had a phenomenal career. Ignoring stage appearances and Tonys, he has had two Oscar Nominations for The World According to Garp 1982 and Terms of Endearment 1983, two Golden Globes for 3rd Rock from the Sun 1996 and Dexter 2008, plus three other nominations, and six Emmys for Amazing Stories 1985, 3rd Rock from the Sun 1996, 1997 and 1999, Dexter 2010 and The Crown 2017 for his portrayal of Churchill, plus six other nominations and a BAFTA nomination for The Crown 2017. Born in Rochester, New York throughout his youth he saw a lot of travel as his father managed local and college theatres and Shakespeare festivals throughout the American Midwest, before finally settling near Princeton, New Jersey. He went to Harvard, where he was bitten by the acting bug and travelled to London as a Fulbright scholar to learn more at LAMDA. Through his career he has lived in Los Angeles, his wife being an economics professor at the University of California. We believe a match should be held in his honour and hope you will accept.
