On the start date it will be the 100th anniversary of the birth of Virginia Mayo, who died in 2005, aged 84. Born and raised in St Louis, Missouri, which one of her ancestors founded, she was often described as the most beautiful blonde in the world and the Sultan of Morocco said seeing her "was tangible proof of the existence of God". She came to fame in the 40s and her career lasted until 1997. She may be remembered for The Princess and the Pirate 1944, The Best Years of our Lives 1946, White Heat 1949 and by the late 40s she was the Warner Brothers biggest box-office draw, a personal favourite being Captain Horatio Hornblower RN 1951. Through her working and married life and until her death, she lived in Thousand Oaks, California. We believe she is worthy of a match in her honour and hope you will accept.
