On the 24th it is the 70th birthday of Lynda Carter, who was the original Wonder Woman on TV 1975-79 as which she became globally renowned and has not reached that same level in anything since, although that would have been difficult to achieve. Born in Phoenix, Arizona, she attended Globe High School, Globe then Arcadia High School, Phoenix & went on to Arizona State University, but dropped out to pursue a singing career, though she was also Miss World USA in 1972. She sang with bands around Nevada, particularly Las Vegas and Reno and in California particularly Los Angeles and San Francisco. After Wonder Woman, she still has amassed 49 screen credits and appeared on stage and in numerous series such as Mike Hammer, a mini-series Hawkeye 1994-95 and she was in Sky High & The Dukes of Hazzard film, both in 2005, was in Supergirl 2016-18 and appears in the latest Wonder Woman 1984 film. She has continued to sing with her own TV specials and appeared in the musical Chicago in London. Lived in Hollywood 70s-85 then on her second marriage Washington DC. They then built in 1987 a home in Potomac, Maryland where they lived till her husband’s death in 2021 and they had two children. She has homes in Rockville and in West Friendship, Maryland and in Scottsdale, Arizona.
