Long ago we missed the 80th birthday of Connie Booth, who achieved fame when she met and married John Cleese whilst hoping for a breakthrough on Broadway, then started with the Monty Python team in And Now for Something Completely Different 1971 and stayed with them through Monty Python’s Flying Circus 1971-74 as the often solitary female. Was in Monty Python and the Holy Grail 1975 and then diversified into other acting appearances such as The Glittering Prizes & Dickens of London both 1976 before returning to partner John Cleese (to whom she was married 1968-78) as Polly in Fawlty Towers 1975-9, which she co-wrote. Her broader acting range was again recognised with Little Lord Fauntleroy 1980 and appeared in Worzel Gummidge as Aunt Sally II, and productions as diverse as The Return of Sherlock Holmes and Bergerac in the 80s as well as 84 Charing Cross Road 1987 but had substantial roles in Floodtide 1987, The Tomorrow People & Faith 1994 and The Buccaneers 1995. Since then she has been largely absent from celebrity, but had in the end a total of 49 screen credits in her career. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, her family later moved to New York State & she attended Penn Hall Prep and Junior College in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, graduating from the latter. Making sense of her career with the Python team but more particularly in recovering from the joint strains and therapy she shared in the relationship and marriage with Cleese, she has worked as a psychotherapist in North London until her retirement, working in Kentish Town after beginning that career in Richmond, SW London and after qualification in 1995. Now remarried and was in New Jersey, then Manhattan New York for the first 5 years, but since mostly living in Highgate Wood, North London. We believe her worthy of a match in her honour and hope you accept – if the numbers or ratings do not suit, then please make contact.
