Laugardagur is the Icelandic word for Saturday. It derives from Old Norse laugardagr, from laug (“bath”) and dagr (“day”). Yes, Saturday was the day the Vikings took a bath, or sat in the sauna, then rolled in the snow! In modern Norwegian and Danish the word is "lørdag"; in Swedish it is "lördag"; in Finnish it is "lauantai"; and in Faroese it is "Leygardagur". (Unrated players welcome - Starts 30 May at Noon)
