أشهد أن لا إله إلاَّ الله و أشهد أن محمد رسول الله

"I bear witness there is no deity other than Allah and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah."

"Allah" is God Almighty in the Arabic language.  It is the One and only originator and creator of all that exists in the universe.  Allah is the creator of existence, itself.  Allah is netiher male nor female.  It is neither spirit nor physical.  The best description of Allah is given in the Qur'an:

 لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْءٌ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْبَصِيرُ

"Nothing is like Him, and He is the All-hearing, the All-seeing"  Qur'an 42:11

To guide humanity to the straight path, Allah has sent thousands of Messengers and Prophets thoughout history to mankind with clear warnings, books and miracles.  The greatest of prophets are Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Mohammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon them.  The last and final Messenger is Mohammad (صل الله علیه و آله و سلم), and the last book and the final and pure word of God Almighty is Qur'an.

Qur'an is a book of knowledge and guidance for those who seek truth.
