13thCWC2023 Team 1/2 Buenos Aires vs. Shostka Comp: the number of players with a foreign flag from Shostka would have been exceeded. Please check it out: https://www.chess.com/club/matches/1606965/games

No problem with the 25% of foreign flag players allowed.

Avatar of drcosme

The percentage of 25% allowed should not be computed on the total number of players, but rather by blocks of 4 players each. Until block 4 (16 players) only 4 players with a foreign flag and 12 local players were allowed. Shostka has 11 local players and 5 with a foreign flag. The topic seems very clear:

  • The number of foreign flag players is limited to 1 in each cumulative (possibly incomplete) block of 4 players (i.e. max 1 player on boards 1-4, max 2 players on boards 1-8, max 3 players on boards 1-12 etc.)

The rule is correct. If cecessary it will be applied.

I see big problem with how this club is organized > https://www.chess.com/club/shostka-compania

only 55 members total, of which 7 are titled that are participating in all matches, ~20 players are rated 2000+ in Blitz (out of the active ones, of course)

Real active members of clubs are pretty much just them, because there are many fictive players (max ~36 players that were logged in during last week) - and of course that even those active that are extremely low rated never participate in daily matches, just the very strongest ones, to gain unfair advantage over opponents

How this fictive club was admitted into cities leagues at all and why their status is not yet questioned? Please review and act appropriately

Grad Nis doesn't have any intention to play against that fake team, because the way it is formed it is very clear who would be winner of any such duel - only the very best real city teams could compete against them (and we can see that even Buenos Aires had lot of troubles to win the match, although they should be clearly superior having in mind how many players they can gatter). If you proceed with the plan to organize the match for 3rd place that way, feel free to give that away to this fake team. After all, for miss from our club in semi-final match that wasn't even played, we really don't deserve the 3rd place anyway (even if fake Shostka team is removed from competition).

Apoyamos a Nis en su reclamo.

@iksnicamod: What definition of an (irregular) "fictive" club do you propose? Currently we have nothing in the rules that would make Team Shostka an irregular contender.

Avatar of iksnicamod

any strict definition would only cause teams to find a way to get around it, league admins have to review each suspicious club separately

I already explained many reasons why I don't see them as valid city club participant above
