14 - Use Tie Break

An advanced option. Default is "on".

The official explanation is here   http://www.chess.com/tournaments/help.html#tiebreak

People will often ask what happens if the tie break is the same for two or more players.

- There is only one tie break.

- If the tie break fails then the players remain tied.

- All tied players receive the same reward, either all advancing to the next round or getting the same type of medal.

Sometimes players think by playing slowly to allow opponents to score some points, their tie break will be more.

- The tie break updates after each game is completed.

- It takes all completed games into account.

- The tie break is the same regardless of the order in which games finish.

There is 0% tiebreak success in a group of two. The success rate approaches 100% as the group size increases.

With groups of two the 0% tiebreak can be exploited with draws, even very short draws. This leads to an even more excessive number of rounds.

Strong Personal Preference: Use tiebreaks

- The number of rounds is less.

- The tournament can finish before players leave the site.
