16th CWC2026 Registration

The winning teams of the last year 15th tournament (Preliminary Round) are automatically registered and qualified. (The winning teams of the following link (CWC2015 preliminary round) are automatically qualified: https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/15th-cwc2025-preliminary-round?page=1#last_comment )

These teams are: Adelaide, Almaty, Athens, Barcelona, Beograd, Bucharest, Buenos Aires, Dhaka, Kharkiv, Kyiv chess ckub,  Lviv, Team Prague, Prishtina, Sostka Compania , Team Toulouse ,The Hague.

Further teams will be qualified will be qualified during the participation round which will start on late March 2025.

The exact format of the participation round will be setup based on the number of registered teams.

Registration will be closed on March 9th 2025.

P.S. The 16 matches (32 teams) of the preliminary round (phase 32) will start on Oct 2025.

Not playing CWC until the mistake from previous season is resolved

Adelaide is not playing in this competition even though we qualify. We withdrew last season.
The problem from last season needs to be resolved first.

Baku, Messini, Minsk, Thessaloniki, Ternopil and Sydney were teams that were removed from competition last season despite winning the round - confused that Minsk is first registered team despite of that

We would like to take part, but some issues need to be changed. We are not professionals, we are just chess lovers!

Team Baku

They didn’t last season.

I concur with the conditional requirement. The basic rule of any KO competiition is winners progress.

Too late for us I think. The clubs especially Sydney have too much hurt now. The issue of the current season would have to be addressed and some matches replayed. And don’t use the number in join before a match starts as the criteria of allowing clubs to progress.

5 players?

This competition is unfair. In addition, Anastasakis simply ignores appeals to him, changes the rules of the tournament when the tournament is in progress and does not explain what is happening. I raised questions about the winners going to the next round as soon as this "rule" was announced before the round even started, but no one paid attention to my requests. Posts started only after the round, when it had already happened and the winners were subject to these "sanctions". As you can see, complete ignorance again. Cherkasy do not want to participate in such unfair competitions. Announce fair rules that won't change until the end of the season, Anastasakis.

Metz would like to take part. But we also ask that complaints be answered and rules clarified. Not answering to people complaining is definitely not a solution. Thank you.

Messini club participates

Fortaleza Chess is awaiting clarification of the rules regarding the preliminary phase to decide whether to participate.

Team Rostock participates

Kyiv confirms but Rules for winners should progress to next round no matter what, this is basics

Melbourne will wait for clarification regarding progression rules.
