This game was probably played 16.03.1912 in St.Petersburg Chess Club tourney. Results this tournament was:

1.Alekhine - 7p/9

2.Levenfish - 6.5p

3-4. Rabinovitch and P.Romanowski - 6p etc.

The two rook sacrifice is very similar to that that he used in the Immortal game. This appears to be a well developed pattern he uses.

lets all suppose that Levenfish took the knight instead of the rook at move 15.

what did alekhine have in mind?

Bxb5+ Kd1

Rd8+ (or Qd8+)

but after Bd2 or Kd2 game goes on i think ....
