Division 2: 14 teams

Rules: https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/2018-wcl-rules

Team contacts: https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/2018-wcl-team-contacts

All match results are preliminary and indicative (occasionally updated by hand). Consult https://chess.bounceme.net/chess/ligas.php for live results and rankings.

Two teams promote to Division 1, six teams are relegated to Division 3. (This asymmetry is due to the size reduction of Divisions 1 and 2 in the 2019 season.)

Results may change due to ex-post corrections (see rules) until the cut-off date on October, 15th (for promotion and relegation) and December, 31th (for the final ranking).

At the date of the scheduled match start (November 15th), neither Thessaloniki nor Burgas had reached the required player minimum of 12. Therefore, the match has been counted as a double forfeit loss. See #2 in this thread. The match may be cancelled.

Double forfeit loss?

Not enen a draw?!

It doesnt make any diference that in 15th of November Thessaloniki had more players than Burgas?

Whats the problem with the other teams if Burgas reach the 12+ and some time before the end of the tournament we manage to end our match too?!

RainPiper

@Anastasios: The short answer is "These are the rules." The WCL has (as the WL for country teams) scheduled start dates per round and teams are required to collect a sufficient number of players before that date. If they don't succeed, it's a forfeit loss. (The player minima and the teams falling short of reaching them have been announced twice in the groups notes before the start of Round 1.)

The longer answer is an answer to the question "Why do we have these rules?" It's clearer and simpler this way. Before the start of a new round, we want to have all matches of the previous round either running of decided by forfeit. Allowing "sleeping matches" which become active as soon as both teams reach the player minimum is likely to create unclear and disputed situations which we don't have the capacity to handle.

This said, there are leagues (EL, ECL) in which the rules are different and match start dates are more liberal. If a majority of team admins is strongly in favour of changing rules, this is certainly an option for next season. But changing rules during a season is not.

I thought that the "rule" was forfeit win for the team who had 12+, if the other team havent succeded the 12 until the sceduled date and not forfeit lose for both, if both havent 12+!

And that was the reason you have "--" on
