Apologies for the huge mess. Intended was in fact 12 UTC instead of 4 UTC like in previous 2022-2023 championships. In order to make up for this, there will be a total of 39 arenas, the first four 0, 12, 16, 20 UTC of January 6, 2024, and the remainder 0, 4, 12, 16, and 20 UTC of the remaining Saturdays and Sundays. This shouldn't affect the qualification standards - the top four of each person’s best two scores in each time control category will progress after the completion of all qualifier arenas.

I don't know if it happened to somebody else, but I experienced 2 SEVERE BUGS during the previous arena:
a) the button "Next game" sometimes was not showed (!) so I was obliged to go to the table of the arena and click on the same button there. Hence time waste and loss of focus. Not really fair.
b) even more seriously: when you lose a game and begin another one, at some moment of course the previous game finishes and you are told about the result as for your new rating ; AND THEN YOU ARE DISCONNECTED BUT ARE NOT TOLD ABOUT THAT. Basically you think that another player is simply thinking, whereas in fact it's YOUR time that is already descending. (Yes it is NOT NEW, happens since approx. September in all games, but in a bullet arena this bug is extremely severe as you have to understand what's on fast enough and refresh the page, hence 3-7 sec. lost, not fair at all. And also you lose your concentration, are obliged to spend 2-5 more sec. to understand what were the moves played in your absence...).

Your best two arenas will be considered for your performance. Top four performances in each category. That means 8 total players are in the semis. And if one qualifies for both categories, that player gets to choose which category to be under.

I was unfortunately right above. To mix BULLET and HYPER players just doesn't make sense, it's irrelevant. There are much less participants in the hyper section (right now for instance in the qualifier 12, only 6 players... I'm the 7th, but I am not really taking part, just wanted to check who the players are).
1 / 1 and 30s / 0 are completely different formats, do NOT require the same skills at all. Hyper is not really chess at all (it's just about the speed of connection and reaction, a lot of experience and many dirty tricks destined to make someone flag).
