in team play there is no more luck than in chess. I win 19 games out of 20.
In Free for all with weak players there is a lot of luck because they have no cluewhat they are doing, and their decisions appear to be random to a rational observer.
In free for all with strong players, there is a lot less luck

Me too. The only problem with teams is that it pairs you with a random partner and they play really bad sometimes. So it is also luck on who you get paired with. You need to have membership to choose a partner which really sucks cause I don't want to pay to play. Well, good luck switching to teams.
I agree with @ne2wildo. team is more on communication, tempo, execution, and opening and most important skills. you need to find better combination to attack your opponent and you can feel the pressure.
I say luck. Lost too many rating points to reason otherwise.
