4 players chess is better without…

Castling. No castling.

This move makes from little to no sense in this context. In 2p chess has the merit that it´s not always about making the king safe, it can be often times an aggressive move. In 4p, however, it´s almost always a defensive move. It may flop hard as a defensive measure, but anyways, that doesn´t flip that it´s never an attacking purpose. I can´t speak for everyone but presumably, one plays for the battle, for the fight, not to be safe. Thus no point in adding an unnatural move that breaks locality and simple causality. The simple motions suffice. Less is more.

I have first comment, also some variants are like that, so just don't castle, or play other variants

that's the thing, sometimes that's their strategy is to be defensive and wait until the fight is over to sweep up the rest of the field. They may take a poke at somebody sometimes, but really, just like 2 player chess, castling is important.

If you don’t want to castle then don’t castle

and, why would you care to fight if someone next to you checkmates you and they gain 20 points and you can't play anymore? probably just a waste of points in my opinion, but you could try a no-castling variant.

Castling is necessary to protect your K. You will likely improve your rating significantly if you take a safety first approach to the game. If your K is exposed often, you won't win consistently.

In 4pc you almost never want to castle as it waste a move and often gets a stronger attack on the side

not if you do it very early in the game

Castling is:

1) A rule of chess. We intend to keep the rules the same.

2) Awesome, and almost always offensive. If you think castling in 4PC is a defensive move, you're evidently not very experienced in the nuances of the game.
Not removing it!

lol @jally79's statement is soooo true. I don't even know why castling is bad.

But if people are teaming it is not ok and (obviously) if you would be mated the next move it is not ok. In teams it is not (unless there are no queens left) because it becomes an easy target with 2 queens. In FFA it is good but you are exposed to the person who you are castling towards.

I agree. In 2 player you have your rook attacking f7 (the weakest point for black) or your rook attacking d7 (attacking the queen)

In 4pc you have attacking your opposite (though that is counterproductive) until 3pc. You possibly have an attack on blue AND green (it is possible to checkmate multiple people simultaneously)if you are red or yellow.

yeah. you don't have to castle, and if you think it's a bad idea for your opponents to do it, then take advantage of it. if you really think castling is bad, then this post is helping your opponents.
