They have changed the database format. The conversion from old to new is automatic. And then you're supposed to delete the old file. But where are the new files?

I haven't done it yet, but doesn't it say that Scid deletes the old files? You should end up with .si4 files instead of the old .si3 files, the same place where the old ones were.
Anyway, there's no way I do things like this without making a backup first.

I had a few problems with this at first but then it seemed to straighten out. The new files are where the old ones were.

I used to open SCID by clicking the icon of a dbase, but that doesn't work anymore. The dbase will open incorrectly. Now it is necessary to open SCID first and then use the [open] command in the [file] menu or click on the folder icon. A minor inconvenience.

  Right, so interresting to bookmark.
An other novelty, when you open a base no game on the front page so easyer to find games without do ctrl-x before. An improve, nice.
it's still not as convenient as a one click icon in the quick launch - but no biggy
