For a teams game you have two additional options:
Red & Blue vs. Yellow & Green
Red & Green vs. Blue & Yellow
Team chat and arrows as usual with your teammate.
Note that you can set who gets to move first by using a custom starting position. Here's the standard starting position with Green to move (as seems fairer for R&B vs Y&g)
Also, this rule is really important for positions where some players have less material than others. This is to balance the material imbalance between the two teams.
