Please submit new positions in a NEW forum post. Read https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/submitting-new-custom-positions before posting.
You can play any position casual, but only listed positions can be played rated.
The idea is to play your custom position casual with real players (not bots), see if they like it, get feedback, and make improvements and adjustments to your position until satisfied. If players enjoyed your game, you can request to have it listed, by posting the following in this topic, or in a new topic:
- Links to played games (games aborted, resigned on 2nd move, etc. do not count)
- Suggested name and time control
- Optional: Info-text to be displayed with the game.
Posts without linked games will be ignored or deleted from this topic.
Use the Edit Position tab to create any imaginable position. Select a spare piece and click on squares to drop it. Drag pieces anywhere.
Note: Rules (King of the Hill, Takeover etc) are not part of the position (fen4), they are part of a the game (pgn4).
The current FEN4 is shown in the textbox at the bottom. If you manually edit or paste the FEN4, click 'Load' below it to apply the changes.
Click 'Start from here' to test your position. Play a few moves. To recover your starting position, go back to the start of the game before switching back to 'Edit position'.
Don't forget to uncheck castling rights in positions where players should not be allowed to castle.
No Royal piece
If a player does not have a royal piece, he (obviously) cannot be checked or checkmated, so it is generally advantageous to be royal-less. If such a player resigns, the remaining players will share 20 points. If a player runs out of pieces, he will get 'stalemated' on his next turn, but no points are awarded for capturing his last piece, nor for getting stalemated by running out of pieces.
If a player has no royal piece, the first promoted king will become a royal king. Other promotions will not be "royalized". (or should they be?)
