This topic is dedicated to King of the Hill (KOTH) variant of 4 Player Chess.

4PC King of the Hill Rules:

King of the Hill is a variant in which a player can also win (in addition to checkmate or king capture) by moving their king to one of the 4 central squares.

Edited: In FFA getting your king to the center will checkmate all remaining players.

Compatibility with other variants:

King of the Hill may be combined with other variants: Chess 960, N-Check, AntiChess, etc.

Be careful if you mix KOTH with Capture The King or Dead Walls:

1. Capture The King allows to move the king under check. While the main weapon in King Of The Hill is keeping central squares (or squares adjacent to them) "under check" so an enemy king cannot reach those squares. It is much more difficult to stop a king in Capture The King + KOTH combined variant, especially when it needs just 1 move to step onto the central square.

2. Dead pieces in Dead Walls variant may block all 4 (or some) central squares.

Also pay attention that it is difficult to reach a central square in N-Check variants with low number of checks (e.g. 3-Check). A king, going to the center, is exposed to checks.

Edited: For multiple king games: only the true king can become the King of the Hill. Spare (3pt) kings cannot.
