7- Concurrent Games per Opponent - Added Content 2012 01 17

An advanced option.

Both games at once

Pro: The time for a tournament can be cut up to half when both games are played at the same time.

Con: Both games at the same time may make the number of simultaneous games too much for some people.

One game after the other

Pro: If the group size is large, the number of simultaneous games is kept to a manageable level.

Con: It is possible for all games in a round to be over except for two with the same players, the second game not yet having started.

The default is one game and some TDs may not try the advanced options. A default of two games may be less stressful, in terms of the waiting time between rounds.

Personal Preference: Both games at once.

Players who are advancing get distressed when they have to wait for the last games of a round to end.

This is magnified when the only two players still playing are still on the first of their two games.

Playing both games at once shortens the wait time.

I have found the fewer the games the more likely higher rated players are to join. Very rarely I have changed formats to one game at a time to fill a tournament. I tend to just not generate tournaments for higher rated players.
