5. In the stage with 3 players, always try to keep the game balanced. If you're the most powerful person, watch out on 2 people teaming on you
6. Always look if you can team up with your opposite and checkmate a player. Either you get checkmate, 20 points, or you win a piece from your opponent, 5 or 9 points. It also eliminates a future threat.
I already know several of these topics exist. But I recently ran into someone who asked what are the strategies for 4PC.
1. Set up your king to be defended on your weak pawn (m9 green, i2 red, c6 blue, and f13 yellow)
Why? Because if you're going up against players who have a better sense of trying to get early mates, or veterans, you're more than likely going to at least get mated early once.
2. Attempt at least one promotion
It's never bad to have an extra queen for another piece for additional ways to attack someone, it's great for getting a point lead and it can provide more safety for your king
3. Checking
Checking is huge in 4 player chess, depending on who you're checking. If you're the one being checked, look at all of you're pieces that could possibly be captured and try to find the best move so that you avoid getting the worst possible outcome (checkmate).
If you're the one checking someone, try and see if there's pieces you can capture freely on your next turn.
4. Castling
It's not necessary to castle from the get-go, but castling early can allow you to start pushing pawns up for promoting or to start attacking other players.
And if I missed tips for starting players, let me know. Thank you if you read all of it.
