A new setup proposal: BYG switch.

I'm pretty sure that all Admins know what the issues are that drove the player base away, but the question is, why are they set on keeping Omatamix and SFA as the Standard?

Fix the server issues so there's no more lag and disconnects, and the players will come back.

Changing the starting position to Omatamix was a HUGE mistake that has yet to be rectified.

Solo was dead before the merge, so why change FFA into Solo?

A lot of players are frustrated with the changes and think 4PC is a joke now.

Create an arena, in the main teams tab, for this position, much like we had with oma, to allow everyone to play and give feedback.  Will probably give substantially less information due to the smaller playerbase, but if you knew how to solve the playerbase issue, there wouldn't really be any issues right?

Absolutely agree, we should hold, that full month championship.

Dear Martinaxo, there are not just 2 extremities, but also many solutions in between

The polls you did were very useful as they gave INDICATION. But I still think we can't use the results of these polls as basis for action.

And YES I obviously agree with you, important decisions can't be taken just by 2-3 persons, nor even 10, but should be taken after a consultation (and many tests). And we shouldn't change the rules and set-ups that often and that easily, or the game won't develop really.

ok, we need to make the pertinent changes, so that we can quickly recover the important base of players, many of whom have returned to participate in the world championship.

To YT4pc: The new position drove next to zero people from 4pc lol.

daveborn

End the national 4 pc nightmare and go back to how things were!

There was no other option besides old and new standard?

You would have to let people vote on BY vs BYG.

Excellent idea, after Arena BYG, to have the possibility of Arena BY and finally a new voting survey feedback.

Well, dear @Indipendenza, the long-awaited moment has come, our voices have been heard.

We will celebrate the BYG Arena, which we will be able to know, experience and evaluate to the fullest, among all.

It is important that all players can participate and that you help us spread the word.

It will also be very important to get feedback at the end of the Arena in the forums.

The BYG and BY Setups deserve this opportunity to be known and evaluated by everyone, so be very attentive, because they will start soon...

See you in battle!

Is there a Rapid Arena being setup?  Right now, I only see a Hyper BYG Arena...

Check casual. Only Hyper is rated.

ProfBlundermaster

@JustinD7 we will have various test arenas and other setups as well. Please test them all.

LazyImp

These arenas need to be placed where they are easier to find, ideally in the main teams or ffa lobbies.  There aren't really any games so far.

*They need to appear regardless of custom settings, like with the New Standard testing on the old server, many people have garbage casual games turned off.

While yes, there should be a combined all standard positions lobby, most people do use the main lobby, unless I am mistaken?

Also, a little guide courtesy of @qilp

Yep, I'm one of those people, which is why I couldn't see the Arenas.  I also had Custom Games unchecked by default.

In order to see the Arenas, we have to click Show All Variants, Enable Casual and Custom games.

I'm afraid this is gonna go down like the BSRTI Arena, with only 3 games played in a week.  At least the Hyper games were fun.

It being custom should be fixed now, you should see them under classic.

A new setup have been made official, and 10 days later a new one is being tested.

This is just so unproffesional and terrible there is no words to describe.

Since the new set up was not well received, this is not unprofessional as is the best thing that needed to be done.

Ne2willdo

The admins analyzed the setups before the merge and decided the current one is best.
But many players, and the new admins have been complaining, screaming, for months, that the setup was changed, and now if just feels like they basically want to have their own new setup.

Not sure what you mean with 10 days ago it was made official. More like 4 months ago.

Then again, many did stop playing, and many of those are excited to play these setup test arenas, so if it helps bringing players back to the table, why not.

I find it hard to tell if the animosity towards the current setup and apparent love for BYG is really objectively based on the current being so boring and BYG being so exciting in terms of openings, or if it's as mentioned more of a reaction caused by being upset that the setup was changed in the first place.

LosChess

The admins are doing exactly what we asked of them, why are we going to fault them now?

The New Standard wasn't well-received, and they are trying to find a New Standard position that we can all agree with.  I'm pretty sure every setup is going to have issues, yet, most of us all loved Old Standard even though it was the least balanced according to the Engines.

The best thing you can do right now is play the test setups, and provide feedback at the end of the Arenas, where a new Standard position will be chosen.  Let's put the complaining behind us, and at least co-operate in finding the new starting position.

spacebar

Why was not it not well received? Do you really think any other setup would have been better received? I have my doubts. Players just don't like changes.

Also, the issue wasn't just the setup, it was the fact that we changed a ton of things at once, which was definitely a mistake. The time control, the rating system (i think this was actually "worse" for top FFA players than the new setup), the whole app (variants) with all it's troubles, most notably the connections, and just the general new organization. Plus 4PC getting removed from the main navbar, which thankfully we managed to get back last week.

All this got players upset. And it's not like changing the setup back or to something else is gonna suddenly make everyone happy again. To the contrary, many will feel we've gone completely nuts now..

>Also- we just lost half the players by changing things- are we really keen to do that again?
