In this game of crazyhouse, after my opponent brought their king next to my knight, I noticed that I could play the double check with my Queen and Knight similar to when preparing to a smothered mate. In this case I obviously couldn’t sack my queen as that wouldn’t lead to checkmate, and so in standard chess the double check wouldn’t lead to any checkmate. Because it was crazyhouse however I could drop my reserve rook, forcing the enemy queen to take it, and then I could take the enemy queen for checkmate, which is in contrast to how in a smothered mate I would be sacrificing my queen.
