Increasing your chances

I'd like to share with you a few thoughts and experiences. I'm not going to talk about the usual things like developing your pieces and responding to opponent's threats etc - there is plenty about that elsewhere. What I'm going to do is give five quick tips about how to increase your chances in a Daily online game.

1) Take your time.
There is no need to rush. It's not a game of blitz. Unless it's a standard opening move or automatic recapture, then there is no need to play your move immediately. It's better to use the three days you have each time to your advantage. Often it can be a good idea to come back to the position later after your brain has absorbed your opponent's move and the new position you find yourself in. Oh and never move after you have just woken up. From experience I know that is a bad idea!

2) Use the Analysis tool to help you.
Unlike in over the board chess where you're not allowed to touch the pieces unless you are moving, you can use the Analysis tool to look ahead in Daily chess. You can also use the Notes tool to record ideas on future plans you may have, or features of the position that may help later - for example, 'Check Bf5' and 'Watch my back rank',

3) Go on Vacation if you need to

Most of us will get busy at some points in our lives with things that have nothing to do with chess. If this happens to you then consider going on vacation. That doesn't mean that you have to be on holiday for real. Vacation abuse only applies to trying to make a hopelessly lost game last longer. Also you can increase the amount of vacation time you have by becoming a member if you haven't yet.

4) Consider becoming a member if you aren't already as you can access extra resources. A Improve Your Chess with a Premium Membership - Chess.com

5) And whatever else you do, DON'T LOSE ON TIME! It's free points for our opponents.

I hope these ideas will be useful. Please message me if there is anything you would like to know more about.
