About Chaturaji Hyper Fiesta

I wanna ask is, is fiesta a good variant or not? I think that it's a luck-based. In my opinion, being yellow is the hardest to win, because the system always let me be yellow and I just keep losing and lost many ratings. I also don't understand why everyone keeps playing the same hyper games or likes to play it.

yes, yellow is the hardest color to win with, and its good, fun and kinda luck based, but overall its a pretty good variant

no, its a terrible variant

You see, when it comes to hyper fiesta, there isn't really much you can do. It's always the same thing over and over again: trade bishops with your opposite, trade rooks with your sides, promote a few pawns, double check with your knights, etc. Unlike in 2pc, with the same board size, you double the number of pieces (and replace the king in the second set with a queen), and behold: you have a game in which there are over 197,281 possible moves that could be played in the first 4 plies (half moves). That's reason 1.

Reason 2: It's stupid. You could literally play the game perfectly and get fourth place because your sides decided to sac pieces at each other while your opposite takes a pawn and flagged, but you being the experienced player knows that sacrificing pieces isn't good.

Reason 3: (I could go on all day about this) There is a thing called "teaming", and, unlike in regular FFA, it isn't opposite cooperation, rather "taking advantage". Again, you could play nearly perfectly and get in position for a triple check, and right before it happens, your right side checks you with his rook pawn. Sad, isn't it? Then the players take all your pieces at the same time. Don't lie: this has happened to everyone at least once.

Reason 4: It's already a bad variant, but just because it's "popular", the admins decide to make 20 different arenas with it? Yeah, I could name a few different actually good variants which basically never get arenas made.

Still, I only play this variant for rating farm (and sometimes because of the reasons listed above I end up losing?)

Here are some games where I win as yellow:

And many more!

As you can see in some of the games, I had to change my opening up a bit. Although fiesta may not seem like a game where you can gain rating, I've been to 2862 playing it, while box has been to 2950+ just by playing fiesta.

I think fiesta is a "just for fun variant"

1. If you want to keep a regular high rating then DON'T play fiesta.

Because fiesta has so little pieces and is point based, every point matters. In normal hyperbullet mates and flags are most important. In a "good" lobby of fiesta with 4 experienced players the game is almost complete luck. The winner and loser doesn't depend on skill but what choices  your opponents make, if red trades with green instead of you, u can get last place and green get first. Even with noobs, if the noob gives all their pieces to someone else you have no chance to win. The game is too inconsistant and luck based. Even the best fieta players like kingandqueen and boxjelly will go from 2800 one day to 2000 the next. It also takes a LOT of time to grind to over 2500 in fiesta. You basically need to play only fiesta and play 100nds of games to just gain a few hundred rating points. Even if you found a way to play the game solo to farm better, it would still be to luck based to gain good rating. All in all fiesta is not a good competitive/rating variant.

2. If you like to have fun and play casual or don't care about your rating, Do PLAY fiesta.

Fiesta was the main game that got me into 4 players chess. I started by watching my bro

lowish_monkey play fiesta,(yeah he used to play that!), then i started playing and got really into it. this was long before many of you started playing 4pc. I got to be one of the top fiesta players only being beaten but valjuir, hess, and Daniel. Around this time the fiesta all week arena was started. When playing in all week, I would have a lot of fun but not really gain rating or ever win the arena. Eventually i stopped playing fiesta and started playing normal hyperbullet. Fiesta is fun as a silly, quick variant that you don't take too seriously. I know a lot of people will say that fiesta takes a lot of skill and speed, it does but 1st place and last are still very luck based. As a hyperbullet fan i enjoy almost all hyper variants, and fiesta is one of my favorite. Just don't play for rating play it for fun. The game itself is not that bad it's actually quite fun (especially if you get the infinite king double check.). Even though I don't play fiesta much anymore, if you want to have some fun, message me and i'll play some CASUAL Fiesta with you (maybe try to break some world records). Fiesta is a "just for fun variant."

I think we can just say that chaturaji is meh but trash if ur yellow.

Avatar of cLtpg

huh, and cheap players get away with it, as these two targeters targeted me, and now I'm at 1850 ratings (when I was at 2100+) so DON'T PLAY RATED FIESTA Please I had to learn it the hard way...

SOMEONE SAYS THAT:

fiesta is trading, not garbling and throwing pieces around
which makes it unique
standard is unique in just throwing pieces
wft is unique for controlling center and throwing pieces
fiesta is trading and throwing king at the end
and colosseum is bullsht
it's sad to see all the people hating on the game when it's not the game's fault
also who promoted mf to top

Avatar of home163

people hate fiesta for making them fall1 day ago
but is it actually a bad game?1 day ago
does it require nothing but sacrificing pieces1 day ago
and checking and stealing?1 day ago
it's literally the opposite1 day ago
quickthrone, standard, who doesn't use tricks there?1 day ago
also, if fiesta is luck, how come some people are 2300 and some are 1400?

Avatar of RatingCrisis

first of all colosseum is bullsht, probably more so than fiesta

secondly in standard you do not throw pieces, no one wins like that

in fiesta trading is all it's about, which is unique yes but it's very, very boring because its the same damn thing over and over again (or getting targeted/teamed on)

no one likes quickthrone so idk why you even used that as an argument, I hate it more than fiesta

it is the games fault? I told you, you could play very well and lose because noobs blunder pieces to each other and not you, or because someone got a lucky triple check which kicked you out of 3rd place and into 4th

I think QUICKTHRONE is better than colosseum and fiesta. They both a bullsht and just a lucked base. I rarely play standard so I like to play QUICKTHRONE but idk why no one like it

Avatar of Monarch_dark

because grable farms it, and also its bad

If all the hyper variant games are bad, then how do I farm my ratings?
