Adding new variants

The guidelines on page one need an update, and seem to be based on new starting positions (which we can do in custom), rather than new rules. I have a suggestion for a new, broadly applicable rule: multiple promotion ranks. For example, 4=α, 5=γ, 6=Uδ, 7=RNBδ, 8=A

Once a pawn gets to a rank; it promotes. Are you trying to make it promote multiple times which is impossible or for it to skip promotion?

In my example, several of the promotion options are other pawns. Also, with 3rd= (or torpedo), it is possible for pawns to jump over a square and miss the promotion.

Hello! Im not sure if this is the correct thread to ask for help because im new to chess.com variant designing, but I've been designing chess variants for quite a while and i recently finally made one that works on this site:
the pawn home rank is still 2, and just like in village chess the royal piece is a pawn, but in this variant there's also sideways moves for pawns, a stalemate counts as a win, and on the 7th rank pawns can promote to a rook, bishop, knight, man (aka non royal king), or grasshopper. ive been testing it out with prototyping for a while and it seems pretty balanced and everything, but i was wondering if any of you have any opinions on it since you have more experience with chess variants.
Also, could someone please explain how to insert a PGN for a variant? It doesnt seem to be working for me.

It would be great to see double chess (like at greenchess.net) here among 4 ppl variants here. I would love to play it here in real time, not just at that server in correspondence, which can be impossibly slow.

I call my variant "Mega Chess" and it is played by 2 players with almost all of the pieces in a normal 4 player game. Instead of two kings, however, each player gets an additional queen, bringing the total to 3 queens apiece. Both rows of pawns can move 2 squares at the beginning and en passant is not used.
Pawns promote on the 11th row, the back row of a normal chess board, and cannot promote on the left or right side, except on the 11th row.
The time control is best over an hour but can be played with more or less if desired.
Here is the starting position:

The extra pieces make for a longer playing time and undoes normal opening chess theory.
I'm not sure how to link to other games but I have played with this setup multiple times.
I hope this variant is well liked and maybe eventually it can be played under the variants tab.
I tried to make a variant, and I just put a fairy piece (The combination of a queen and knight) instead of a bishop. It said that in that position it was game over. Why was that?

- Are there royal pieces for every side?
- Is someone in stalemate?
- Are you sure that your position saved?
cant connect on the server at all ;/
