this might be a stupid question, but what does an admin have to do?

An admin initially will take responsibility with one or two easy tasks then move on to more involved tasks with experience. It could be running matches, vote chess, forum(s). Pretty much anything that needs done to make the group work on a daily basis. An admin must be honest, patient and reliable. Hope that helps!
I am keen to hear from anyone in the group who wants to take on any admin reponsibility. I started this group for Edinburgh players even though I am a Fifer! My long term aim is to have Edinburgh admins and eventually an Edinburgh super admin. So step up!
