An example on why the King's Indian isn't a beginners' opening

I often see beginners saying that the King's Indian defense is their entire d4 repertoire, which 1. I do not believe (Playing a Fianchetto and playing d6 doesn't make it a King's Indian) and 2. Disprove of as it's just too complicated of an opening to be employing at lower levels. I had been studying this particular variation before and still ended up in an extremely pressurized position in this game. Beginners, please play something simpler

Context: Me and @krazeechess wanted to practice with longer time controls, so we agreed to play a 30|0 game. That's about it

I need to have a talk with krazze for this...

only bad move imo is the g pawn 'sacrifice'

Batman2508

Might not be opening for beginners but definitely not playable open section otb

why is that? I would think it would be popular at more competitive otb tournaments

More about this opening choice, there are better defenses against D4 imo the game was fine, if he really likes it he can play it of course I'm just kind of his coach kind of, but I think there's better options

The game was fine and if krazze is getting good results he can play this

I mean tbf I know how to play the KID on both sides, I just never got confident enough to play it in rated because I thought it was too risky. I definitely made some inaccuracies in the game tho so idk

no the bayonet attack is after 9.Ne1 Nd7 10.Be3 f5 11.f3 f4 12.Bf2 g5 and now 13.b4!? (Rather than the main line which is 13.Rc1 or 13.a4)

I was under the impression that 8. b4 was the Bayonet attack and the alternative of the classical systems

DasBurner

chess.com doesn't have a name for 13. b4 so I suppose it's a transposition to a common bayonet line or something like that

DasBurner

is 13. a4 a move?

DasBurner

o___o

DasBurner

In my defense I usually play the Samisch variation so these main line ne1 systems aren't my specialty

MrIndia

You guys know 13 move kid theory 😳. I know maybe till 8 and it's my main d4 opening lmao

(maybe that's why I suck at it lol)

rishichess2000

Black can also go Na6 c6 Nc7 idea as well provides good play on queenside

Thunder7

Kid might be complicated but if u know the basic ideas it is good and no it is not only d6 and fianchetto u have to look for pawn breaks like F4 and E4 and slowly pawn storm towards the white king

@dababy you do know that the mainline you played, after d5 you must play Ne1 Be3 f3 Nd3, right?
