I think there is another important point.

Once someone has qualified, he shouldn't be able to join another qualifier and play (even for fun). Because this player proved to be good. And then he plays (well, of course), and there are many perverse effects:

This is in the Rules:  "Players can play in as many Qualifier Arenas as they want until they Qualify. Qualifiers must agree to cease playing further Qualifier Arenas."

Maybe it's in the rules, but I've seen MANY VIOLATIONS. Right now some qualified are playing.

(the problem being that it influences greatly the result for the other participants, and diminishes significantly their chances)

Is EyeoftheTiger qualified? He's playing in every arena

Why I am slightly bitter? Because I lost some games where I had good chances to win, AND it was against some of them. Hence some disappointment.

Do I have any chance at scoring well in the world championship? I only started treating 4PC seriously a few weeks ago. I've played around 650 games so far.

Well, it's 4-player-chess, so everything can happen, but I am quite sure you will be the contestant with the lowest solo elo.

YES I AM SURE, but I was wrong: in fact I've just checked, and it's only ONE player. Who probably failed to read the rules well. Personally IDC.

(As for 2 other players, I am sorry, I was wrong: I thought they won, but in fact they were very high in some previous qualifiers but didn't win eventually. I made a confusion, remembered badly).

If the NM is reading this, as I recall, you got out fourth a bit more than you should. Look at top players, such as hest, cha cha, and perhaps see what they do in the four person stage. Also you could look at last years final between icystun Arseny Vasily Merceq1 and see what they did. That is what I would do. Good luck! I hope this helps

Thanks!!

And another issue is that the ORDER of the games you win influences the outcome. It's a funny feature when you play just ANY arena, but when it's about a qualifier for the world championship, it becomes clearly unfair as we speak about SOLO, where you easily lose sometimes by unluck or because other players play nonsense, etc. (much more than in FFA). So to win in a row becomes sincerely much trickier whatever your level; and the winners often win thanks to the bonuses. Look at the impact and you will see that it's significant.

RESULT: current 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 14th have qualified. Two players from outside Top20 have as well. So yes they could manage despite many nonsense games, weak players who ruined games, etc. And let's congratulate them.

But I also see that several excellent players couldn't qualify; and I'm afraid it's not because they were bad but simply because of the ridiculous 1600+ threshold, of the time impact (2 hours... whereas high level games tend to be much longer...), etc.

XXX18MilesOutXXX, FloatingNight7, neoserbian, carlosgabriel1234, EyeoftheTiger1204, SirMullih, a1t19, J-0ker couldn't qualify (and it seems to me that they took part in some qualifiers).

Luke, what happens if the current Nr. 4 (who has qualified) passes 3rd in the meantime, in which case Riba would become 4th? The rules are not clear.

If the result of the qualifiers prevail regardless, that means that you can already inscribe in your thread https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/2021-solo-world-4-player-chess-championship-w4pcc-results-information the 3 relevant players (rather than putting like you did, "# 1 Solo Standard Rapid/Blitz Player at 18:00 UTC") as it is abs. unimaginable that someone among those non-qualified (the strongest being currently XXX18MilesOutXXX with 2375) would pass 3rd (2543!).

What does that mean?

HSCCCB

Rating Deviation?

empty_K3

But who is qualified?
Am I the first one not qualified, or what does that mean?

4) Performance Evaluation
Performance Calculation is defined as the Performance Rating of the most recent 36 rated standard rapid/blitz Solo games played in the Month of May 2, 2021 18:00 UTC - May 30, 2021 18:00 UTC. The players must have played at least 36 rated standard rapid/blitz Solo games in this period or they will not be evaluated. Performance rating is calculated as follows:
Formula for selection: [(total opponents’ ratings) + 400 * (wins - [non-first-places divided by 3]) ] / 36 ; based on Performance Rating formula, which can be found on Wikipedia. Playing tough opponents (1900+ for example) and winning 70% of the time will favor a player over another who wins 100% of the time against only 1500's.

In a rare tiebreak for the last spot available, the higher rated of the two players will be selected.

The Bracket in which the Performance Category takes place takes place at 20:00 UTC Saturday, June 12, 2021.

Players with the lowest Rating Deviations from the Leaderboard will be selected in the event that Performance Calculations cannot be taken.
