So I appreciate that the arenas were not rated. Why does this change for the semi finals? At this point it's even more clear that rating loss or gain is no incentive in this contest so why make it rated in the first place?

Also, ignore the terms and conditions part where it said "rated". These are all typos. My apologies for the inconvenience. In your congratulations message, it should say "unrated" in those places.

I was waiting for a response like: "Well even in 2pc the WC is rated so it is only reasonable to have the 4pcwc rated too" with which I was ready to respond: "Well in 2pc they also don't randomly change the entire configuration of the pieces without warning and pretend all is well."

That's absolutely true. But in the concrete case there is no trouble because it's done precisely in Old Standard.

@fourplayerchess why didn't you qualify?

It should definitely be rated.

I don't think so.

Because if a player has a lead it makes a lot of sense to take this player out.
This player loses a game due to strategic reasons.

Therefore I don't think it should be rated.

But in the end, I don't care much, those are only a few games and they are all high rated, so not much elo movement happening anyways.

The stupid tournament director decided to make it Old Standard, which totally nullified his qualification chances.

Or maybe he wasn't good enough. But if I were him I would blame it on the tournament director.

There was a CoI anyway... Normally in such cases people don't take part, just in case...

I do not understand, could you explain please?

We speak about Anon. games... wink.png

And as for the rating issues: as you mentioned, there are few games and the impact won't be huge. In some brackets there will only be 3 games maybe.

And when there is no impact on the rating at all, I find it irresponsible (plus it encourages some behaviour sometimes as players don't care) and even ridiculous: we speak here about the world elite, and most players are from Top 20/30, if they are not able to put the nuts on the table, what is the rating overall about?...

(Besides, to stop all at 2 games won is somewhat inadequate I believe; some games are won just because of a blunder or a bad sides cooperation, etc., I think 2.25 pts should be the min. in both semifinals and final).

Unofficial Qualifiers (we had another disqualification under findings of a secondary account playing, and a switch of two brackets in writing by both players)

Bracket 1
Sat. 18. Jun 0:00 UTC
@neoserbian
@jbolea
@JCrossover_14
@Darksquareman

In fact, why was JCrossover_14 replaced?

Avatar of ChessMasterGS

I think he was late to the qualifier? Understandable, but a more detailed rulebook should be created for future events...

Avatar of Indipendenza

I don't see the first final game; has it begun?! It was supposed to begin 20 min. ago.

Is there a way to join this tournament if you are a somewhat high rated player (1730) that is climbing up the rating ladder very quickly?

No, there is not. And I hate to break it to you but even if you could participate in the qualifiers, you would have no chance against the players 1000 points superior to you.
