Announcing the 2022 (Fourth) Online World 4 Player Chess FFA/Solo Championship (DISCUSSION)

I personally didn't see anything wrong with a blitz time control and rating (if 1|5 was too fast, there's always 2|5, and 4|3), and ratings *were* about 400 points lower than rapid, based on the leaderboards.

But I guess 1|7 is supposed to somehow be better than 1|5? By what, 2 seconds?

neoserbian

It is completely irrelevant whether it is rated or not. Who care for 50 or 100 points up or down. A much bigger problem is the way 16 players will be chosen and the fact that the semifinals will be played on 2 wins. No one seems to have problem with that except me, so ... keep discussing about completely unimportant things.

Darksquareman

I honestly just think people should deal with the format no matter what it is. Just play and try to win.

Yes, we will carry on ignoring you.

Has rojitto said whether he's playing or not? For him, is this decision affected by whether the event is rated?

Yes, rated = no rojitto and no radon ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Lol of course im going to play whether is rated or not.

And i see that qualification by rating is gone, probably because you would be benefited  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I can't even give value to my inflated rating, it will be dragged to random 2200 ppl

Qualifying by hyperbullet ranking would produce better contestants than if 2200s competed in arenas... but who am I to say this, you can check the leaderboard yourself and see what (or who) I'm talking about

Hyperbullet players are just a bunch of 5y olds. You let the same individuals decide on the future of 4pc by voting on those useless polls that only make the things worse with the worst possible options given in those polls. That's really sad for 4pc in general. If they've listened only to people who actually understand the game and those who have been playing 4pc for 5 years, who are actually smart, intelligent, but no, we'll create polls and make decisions based on that instead of thinking this through...Sadge...My guess is that things will get better in December, 'till then...idk It's nice to have this world championship, I'll start playing FFA after the rating system changes (implementation) and I hope 2nd place to be -1. If not, I won't take FFA seriously anymore and I'll continue playing teams...I mean, more competitive, since I don't see FFA being competitive with second place being 0 or +1. It's just another version of teams, even -0.5

Ty for calling Jeremy and Jerry 5 year olds, that’s really the point I was going for…

and as a side note, how many players that joined in 2017 (aka beta) are still active? Even 2018 is rare, so I don’t see how having 20 people vote is beneficial

At_d0sA_fNLt_Laris

I know only 1 player from 2017 and that's modo25 aka lagodiComo, since 2018 there's myself, JustinD7, empty-K3, tommerall949, NightLoveRaver, neoserbian I believe Toni (vrdtmr) maybe Riba. There are other unknown players like Koloso, Krutov...J-0ker probably one of them dee jay typicalmove etc. for teams there's Victor liquid-sun and Lars icystun, there's probably more...Carlos plays for a long time. There are 2 girls MissFairyQueen originally from Estonia, now in US I believe and I forgot the username of the girl that represented the Spanish community in the Solo World Championship finals and many many other players who gave up idk if ebb SirMullih is still playing, Besher and HSCCCalebBrown, GothGirlGames, lagpress (Grathieben started around 2019 I believe) their opinion should be more valued...

Typewriter44

Why is how long someone has played relevant? More relevant is how good someone is at the game and how many games they have played. Radon has only played 4pc for about a year but is easily better than all the players from 2018  that you listed, with the exception of icystun. Radon knows a lot about the game, a year is plenty of time to learn about gameplay at a level superior to those who have been below the top for years.

Finally some common sense.

Hilarious that Radon thought that rojo wouldn’t play in a world championship because of some number next his name.

Nobody's gonna reach that number for another few years anyway haha

Pfft and they forgot me in the 2018 count

Why would they actually? Any high-rated player who is free should be accepted if they  join.

Indipendenza

June or July 2018, but yes, it's irrelevant (once you're over 500 games).

@hest1805 also started playing around the same time I did. He was #1 at the time of the 1st W4PCC and he is since @rojitto does not appear on the leaderboard. Also @Spaksi already played at that time he was top 20 a few months ago, but I don't know if he still plays. @a1t19 was in the winners bracket of the first championship with Henrik (hest1805), Billy (neoserbian) and me. He was a substitute last year if I remember right, but I don't know if he played apart from that...

Those are the top players I still remember.

@Typewriter44

Laris wasn't talking about players who are playing for a very long time, he was talking about top players who played since basically the beginning. And Billy, Lars and me are the only three players who played all three W4PCC, so when it comes to championships we are probably the ones whose opinion you should value the most.

That does not mean, that other opinions do not matter. But e.g. @Radon who has a very loud voice has never played a world championship. If you want to know how to set up a twitch stream in a bathroom, he is the one you should listen to, but when it comes to world championships, there are better candidates.
