Anonymous FFA

So i'm starting to feel like FFA needs to be played completely anonymously for the best possible game experience. But blocking is also essential. I will not go into the reason why both of these are true but I think it is time to bring blocking into the anonymous mode. In 2 player chess any player can block any other player and they don't play together. This should be the same for 4 player chess. As it stands blocking only works for non anonymous and semi anonymous. Time to bring it to anonymous in my opinion.

If you bring blocking into anon, you could just block the top whatever players and farm free rating even more easily than now

this game is cooked

it has been since the merge

NightclubChess

There is no farming. If you play lower rateds you gain less and lose more.

MegaThief

player pool too small for standard 4PC FFA

Thing is that u make so many friends and if u don't know their users u can't make friends

There are many negatives and positives

The player base of 4PC might not be big enough for Blocking feature not to be abused.

If a player blocks all higher rated or difficult opponents they still must win against the remaining players and u will gain less and lose more if they are lower rated. There isn't really a farming method in 4pc especially in anonymous these games are generally played by at least 2200+

If you are talking about say two players blocking loads of other players so they can easily get paired together well they can do it now without blocking. The player base is so small that any two 2200+ players can arrange to join the same anonymous queue. These queues take a long time to fill generally.

@glip I'm not really sure how adding the blocking feature to anonymous can be abused so if you would be willing to expand on it it would be appreciated.

Let me explain again my reasoning for wanting blocking to be added to anonymous.

First we can obviously know why its not a great proposition for a higher rated player to be paired with 3 lower rated players in a non anonymous queue. It doesn't take Einstein to work out that it may be the best strategy of the 3 lower rated players to work together to remove the high rated first. Not only will they have an easier task at winning the game from a chess point of view, but they will also lose less or gain more rating if the highest rated player is 4th.

So this is obvious and semi anonymous was recently added. However semi anonymous does not quite do the job. It really is quite obvious who is who for the regular players who play every day. The player base is quite small and if you play every day u are playing against the same regular players. Around 80% + of the time in semi anonymous i will know who is who before the end of the game, maybe around 50% of the time after 10 moves in the opening and 80%+ before the end of the game i will have guessed correctly.

So really for the regular ones who play every day semi anonymous is not much different to normal non anonymous and especially if you have a distinct style such as being a very slow player (like myself) then it is obvious who you are.

4 player chess needs to be played completely anonymously for best results, but it also requires blocking to remove throwers and terrible opposites from the game.

In 2 player chess any player can block any other player except for in tournaments / arena's. It should be the same in 4 player chess but even more so as in 4 player chess players can make you lose indirectly. This means another player can make you lose not because they beat you by skill like in 2 player chess but by throwing or waiting for you to lose opposite.
