I am a 13 years old boy with a FIDE rating of 1605. I got my FIDE rating in October. However, I think I am in a big slump since my rating decreased a lot these days.

Are there any good players who has a FIDE rating above 1800 to give me some advice?

Thanks.

Just do puzzles as much as u can also perfect your repertoires that's it and also read endgame books or do the endgame puzzles.

Wow! 🤯 Way to go bro! 🤩 That's awesome that you're rated so high while still being so young.

FYI, whenever you're learning a skill (e.g., chess, piano, sudoku, painting, accounting, etc.), there's what's called the learner's/learning curve. A study was conducted and they found that people's skill increase as they learn and practice, but, then, they plateau for a while. After that, they actually decrease in ability and skill for a bit. It's usually during the dip that most people give up.

Now, you might not get any worse at all... my point is: don't give up if you do, and don't feel bad that your in rut right now! 🤓👍🏻

My Suggestions:

  • Read books
  • Study strategies (especially openings)
  • Get a coach (Sidebar Menu > Social > Coaches)
  • Regularly analyze your games
  • Practice playing against yourself in your head (helps with foreseeing more moves ahead during OTB matches, this will help edge on towards GMship)

Keep up the good work Lee! At this rate, I'm sure you'll be an FM by 15 or 16. 😉

Keep Chessing & Stay Brainy!
