is there a feature for editing the board also if it exists can u create a playable variant out of it

for normal chess you can do this with the analysis and then setup board

go to a finished game with same mode teams,FFA or solo and hit edit position as the arrow indicate

here u can edit position and rules then hit new game to play is but its playable casual till the variant stuff Approve it 

When you click thenew game "+" symbol in the top left corner, there should be a little tab on the GUI that pops up that says "Analysis board" - click that to bring you a fresh board. You can change the game from FFA, Teams or Solo with the tab near the little search/magnifying glass at the top of the panel on the right. This is easiest method I found for analysinig games, but I think El Verdugo's method of making custom games is what you're looking for
