Anyone playing OTB lately?

I played in the 49th annual Queen of Hearts over the board regular tournament in Montgomery, Alabama on February 20th and 21st. It was actually my first over the board tournament. We played with a 2 hour and 5 second delay time control.

how did you do? I was there too.

I see nearly 20 OTB regular rated tournaments in California so far in 2021. The San Diego club is running their traditional Gambito on a monthly basis. The largest event so far appears to be a 44 player scholastic.
Where do you see this?

I don't see that many regular rated event OTB that have already been rated.

It was my first ever OTB tournament and I lost all my games . But I did learn a lot, and met some great people. Did we meet each other at that tournament?

More than likely we didn't... I played in the 1600+ section. If it was your first you would have played in the under 1600 section.

Also it was my first big tournament, so I really didn't know what to do in my free time. I just kind of sat in places looking stupid.

Yeah I mainly looked over games with other U1600s and played OTB bullet chess in the lobby.

I didn't know anybody there. I just started talking to people and hanging out with them while I was there. I am from Iowa so I didn't really know anyone down there.

Iowa, interesting. Did you drive?
I flew, because I needed to get back to work on time after the weekend.
Montgomery, AL, is having a two-day tournament this weekend and a one-day tournament on the 27th.
