I noticed that both Bingley teams have withdrawn from the Clough, I wondered why till I saw the A team are to play Undercliffe. Pity nobody listened at the AGMs in 2008 & 2009.
APATHY
Hi Daz,
In May 2008, I suggested the Clough be extended to 9 rounds, with 4point byes given to teams involved in the hepolite or rearranged League games-DEFEATED.
In December 2008 Undercliffe B postponed against Clayton, if my suggestion had been implemented there were 4 dates available.
In May 2009, I refined my suggestion Clough 5 rounds, postponed games to be played on first available Clough date, 4 points given as "postponement" bye-REJECTED, infavour of the simpler Suggest 3 dates & have a committee meeting.
Next time I have a suggestion, I will change my name and go in disguise.
PS if my may suggestion had been accepted Undercliffe, Bingley would have had 3 dates.
Hi Daz,
I falsely stated that in 2009 the Clough should be 5 rounds. I have come across a copy of the rule ammendments for 2009, I actually said 8 rounds.
The rule at the time: 43, The Clough Trophy will be played as an annual five round Swiss tournament. First round ties are drawn randomly at the most appropriate Executive committee meeting. The ties in rounds 2-5 to be drawn( as far as possible)by conventional Swiss rules, by the BDCA Secretary or Competition controller.
My ammendment was: 43, The Clough Trophy will be played as an annual eight round Swiss tournament. First round ties will be drawn randomly by the Hon Secretary. The ties for rounds 2-8 will be drawn randomly(as far as possible) by conventional Swiss rules.
I made a mistake in this draft by ommiting "or Competition controller" . Strangely enough for every ammendment I suggested, one particular member made a counter suggestion, in this case the words "or Competition controller" from the original rule were left outi. His ammendment was accepted!!?
OK Doctor I'm coming, but it's not paranoia

In another topic, Nigel expresses his concern with apathy. Not being involved in the League I have no knowledge of this but I think it should be sorted out (without scapegoats)
